Anime Club
Time: 9:00-9:50
Ages: 8-12
Class size: 3-10 students
Semester cost: $30
Weekly parent volunteer needed
Students will explore plot, character development, and other literary concepts using kid-friendly anime shows and movies.

Ashley is currently pursuing a degree in early childhood education. She has over 10 years of experience in childcare settings and loves working with children.
Chess and Chess Tournament
Time: 1:00-1:50 pm
Ages: 5-16
Class size: 10-18 students
Semester cost: $110
Each class includes group lessons, supervised game play, and personalized coaching. Children will learn various facets of the game of chess and play tournament-style games. At the end of each 12-week session, there is a chess tournament with prizes awarded at the end of the session. Boards, pieces, and other chess materials provided.

Timotey has a teaching degree in Elementary Education and History Education. He has been instructing chess since 2007. Three of his students are National Champions and Florida State Champions. He is a US Certified District Chess Coach- Level 2 and US Certified Local Tournament Director. Coach Tim is the President of Saint Petersburg Chess Club and Chess Club Joy. He is also one of the Directors of Florida Chess Association and Regional Vice President for West Florida.
Line Dance
Time: 1:00-1:50
Ages: 9-16
Class size: 6-8 students

Students will learn an easy fun line dance each week set to pop genre music.

I am a mom to Sam (almost 15) and Larkin (11) and wife to Scott. I've been line dancing for 9 years, and during that time, I've taught several dances to adults, but I'm guessing the kids will learn even faster! My mom, Robbie, will be my helper. She's been line dancing for 10 years and has also taught dances to adults. She line dances several times a week and we both attend line dance workshops a couple of times a year
Mindful Art
Time: 11:00-11:50
Ages: 10-18

This class is all about the process, not the product. Students will experiment with line, patterns and color as they create in a relaxing environment. Some of our projects will be inspired by zentangle and neurographic art . The goal of this class is experimentation and making art for the enjoyment of the process.

Cat is always making things; She will be most likely found with yarn or another craft material in her hands. She is a former elementary school teacher with a BS in Early Childhood Education and has been homeschooling her own three kids for almost a decade. Last semester, she taught Fiber Arts/Crochet at SHARK and she has previously taught co-op classes with the Alliance for the Pursuit of Knowledge co-op, including Art, Fiber Arts, 3D Art, Weaving, Rube Goldberg/Simple Machines and Drama.
Mixed Media Art - Elementary

Students will explore new ways of creating with a wide variety of materials used to add paint and texture to card stock and canvases. Projects differ from last semester and will be ready to take home almost daily. Gel super glue and hot glue guns will be used. You may want to send gloves with students who have skin sensitivities. Art class can get messy so you may consider sending students in clothing that is ok to stain.

Puberty 101: Sexuality Education for Ages 11-13
Time: 12:00-12:50
Ages: 11-13*
*For students that are 13, the parent can decide which class would be best for their child. If parents have any questions about which class would be best, please contact Erin and they are happy to help.

Book: It's Perfectly Normal: Changing Bodies, Growing Up, Sex, Gender, and Sexual Health by Robie Harris, 2021 Edition.
In this class students will learn about the physical, emotional, and social changes of puberty. In addition to learning factual information about puberty students will learn about consent, values, and communication. This class does not separate by gender and all students will learn the same material. This class is based on the Our Whole Lives: Comprehensive Sexuality Education for Grades 4-6 curriculum.
NOTE: There will be a mandatory parent meeting before your student can participate in class. This will be scheduled closer to the start of the semester and make up sessions will be available.

Students will be able to explore their attitudes, values, and feelings about sexuality and get answers to the questions they may not want to ask their parents! Public Speaking

Students will learn the different types of public speaking, how to present, how to prepare and more. They will be focusing on finding their niche, their stage personality, get over the butterflies and know what to do if they mess up. Build confidence and have a great time.

My name is Ashley Knutson and I am a homeschool parent of my energetic 11 yr adventurer. I have been married for the past 15 years to my husband Jon and followed his Military career both here and overseas. My 13 years of teaching experience go from Public School to Homeschool Co-Ops. With a degree in teacher-aided paraprofessional, NCMA Degree – medical background working with students that need extra help due to medical/ physical or other needs. Over the past 15 years, I have brought experience and enthusiasm to classrooms over the years, by teaching the students the love for learning and a passion to explore into trying out different subjects, challenging themselves but enjoying the journey along the way. Throughout my years of teaching, I’ve had the privilege of teaching a diverse range of subjects, including debate, geography, arts and crafts, history, drama, and more. My dynamic approach to education goes beyond the confines of textbooks, fostering critical thinking and creativity in my students.

Class Description: This is a just-for-fun class for teens to come together and build friendships and hang out. We will be playing board games and some video games as well. Teens will need their cell phones or a WiFi capable device to play many of the games this semester, so make sure they have them charged and ready

I'm currently raising my fifth teenager and have been a homeschooling parent since 2011. Our family enjoys games that bring us together and get us thinking. I'm excited to share some of these games with the teens. This will be the second semester that I am leading the Teen Social class and I am a founding member of the SHARK co-op.
Web Development 101

Windows or Mac laptop, with PHPStorm already installed and updated

Monthly license subscription for JetBrains - PHPStorm
This class will teach students the fundamentals of html and css. We will build on a foundation of understanding html tags to add assets and stylesheets in the <head>, as well as learning how to add classes to elements and style elements with css in a stylesheet. Students will also start to learn the basics of WordPress and how to use it as a content management system. Each student will need to bring either a Windows or Mac laptop, and will need to subscribe to a monthly license for JetBrains - PHPStorm. Laptops must be problem free and ready to be used, with PHPStorm already installed from the time class starts as we won’t have much time.
